The leaves of M. cinnamomea are brown on the underside and green on top, giving the crown a "cinnamon" colour and hence the specific name. The fruits are large egg-shaped and with brown-orange scurf. Stilt and Pneumatophore roots may be evident in swampy conditions. The tree is found in and around Fresh Water Swamp Fores.
