Knema conferta is a mid-canopy tree found in Lowland Dipterocarp as well as Fresh Water Swamp Forest. The leaves are alternate with around 20 secondary veins, the undersides are whitish and pubescent. The bark peels off in flakes and has a gray and brown mottled appearance. Stilt roots may be present on swampy ground. This tree produces clusters of fruits as illustrated in the images below (conferta = clustered). Each fruit is a dihescent capsule that open to reveal a single seed with undivided red waxy aril.
